1902 Morgan Silver Dollars

 

1902 Morgan Dollar
    Production of 1902 Morgan dollars introduced nearly 8 million coins into circulation that same year. This edition of the silver dollar was minted in three different U.S. cities: New Orleans, San Francisco and Philadelphia. Morgan dollars produced at New Orleans contained the letter O above the word dollar on the reverse side of the coin. For silver dollars minted in San Francisco, an S was struck in the same spot. Philadelphia coins contained no mint mark.

    The 1902 Morgan dollar was composed of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. This silver dollar weighed 26.73 grams and possessed a diameter of 38.1 millimeters.
 
    Uncirculated Morgan dollars from 1902 are commonly found in MS62 to MS65 grades. Prices for these grades range from $38 for an MS62 Morgan dollar from the New Orleans mint to $3,000 for a MS65 Morgan dollar from the San Francisco mint.

    Circulated 1902 Morgan Dollars are found in grades from G4 to AU55. Prices for these grades typically range from $18 for a G4 dollar minted in Philadelphia to $300 for an AU55 coin minted in San Francisco.
