1900 Morgan Silver Dollars

The Morgan Dollar was a coin made primarily of silver, named for its designer United States Mint Assistant Engraver George V. Morgan. It was minted from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. The obverse of the Silver Dollar depicts the head of the female figure of Liberty in profile, while on the reverse is an eagle with outstretched wings.
The 1900 version of the Morgan Dollar is 90% silver and 10% copper, its diameter is 38.1 millimeters, its weight is 26.73 grams and its edge is reeded. It was minted in Philadelphia, New Orleans and San Francisco. The mintmark is under the wreath below the eagle on the reverse side.
12,590,000 circulations strikes of the coin were minted in 1900 in New Orleans with an "o" mintmark.
8,830,000 circulation strikes were minted in Philadelphia, along with 912 proof strikes. The mintmark for the Philadelphia coins is blank.
3,540,000 circulation strikes were minted in San Francisco with an "s" mintmark.
Circulated 1900 Morgan Dollars typically sell for $15-$20. A mint condition coin may be worth ten times that. The rarest 1900 Silver Dollar has an "o" stamped over a "cc’" (Carson City). These sell for over $2,000.
